521 Foster was our first jump into multi-family houses -- and it turned out really well. These ocean-view townhouses are just steps from the water and appealed to families who were looking for tastefully finished, quality homes in the area.
During community consultation, neighbours told us how important the mature trees that lined the front of the property were to the community - particularly the large arbutus that is a bit of a landmark for Foster Street. We strongly agreed and spent considerable time working through the landscape designs and building site plan to preserve three of four them, and replacing the one that we had to take down, with six more on site.
In addition to being steps from the beach, 521 Foster is close to a major bus route and excellent cycling paths. We made sure that we included cycling storage in each of the units, as well as a bike lock-ups for guests. Building for the future, we installed electric car chargers in each of the garages -- one of the first townhouse developments in the city to do this.
Five Two One Foster was also our first major project where we've acted on our commitment to donate a significant portion of our profits into affordable housing projects.From this project, we'll be donating $60,000 to affordable seniors housing that will be built in partnership with BC Housing at the St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s parish on Esquimalt Road.
